First and foremost, a Merry X'mas and Happy New Year to everybody!
To those who haven't heard of this topic, consider learning it as I did in order to make it big in ANY industry out there! As for those who "know" about it, now's a good time to "understand" it. Being human, you WILL inevitably require to meet new people out there who are better than you in many aspects. There are 3 possibilities that will occur:
A) Due to both sides not very "Sharp", meet as strangers and leave as strangers.
Very common scenario, you meet somebody and refuse to disclose your wants, needs, interests of any kind out of fear that you will be exploited/hated/ignored. Best possibility is you come out as an acquaintance in his phone book and never called upon.
B) You got on his bad side, retribution shall occur.
Being too sharp, the scene goes horribly wrong! You have incurred the wrath of somebody who will ruin your future career in that field. That man you just bad mouthed or insulted indirectly will keep quiet and give you "The Smile" and walk off. Bear in mind, all is not what it seems and this will come back to bite you someday.
C) A clear impression is made, there is hope.
It could've been that firm handshake you gave or confidence shown in your looks and words. Putting your mannerisms and compliments aside, being clear and straight-to-the-point while showing being polite goes a long way when making business contacts.
